I Got Stuck Looking at Old School Photos the Night

I was browsing the internet one evening just scrolling through stuff. I didn't have a reason I was just killing time.

Then I saw a school photo. I don't know why I clicked on it. Maybe it was the look. Maybe it was the uniforms. I took a look.

I clicked on another one.. Another. Before I knew it an hour had passed. The funny thing is, I didn't know anyone in those photos.

They seemed familiar. I started noticing things that reminded me of my school days. The student standing in the front row looking awkward. The friend trying not to laugh. The teacher who looked like they had already told everyone to behave.

Some things never change. When I was looking at school photos online I realized that schools from different countries weren't that different. The buildings were different. The uniforms were different.. The feeling was the same.

School is school. People make friends. People grow up. Those moments get frozen in a photo.

I get why people do this. Many of the school photos I saw weren't perfect. Some were scratched. Some were faded. Some looked like they had been in boxes for decades.

Those imperfections made them more interesting. New photos feel planned. Old photos feel real.

Now people can look at school photos for free. It's easy to explore memories from another time. One photo leads to another. Suddenly I was looking at classrooms, sports teams and school events from years ago.

I also looked at school reunion photos. Those were my favorites. Seeing people stand beside classmates after thirty or forty years is a reminder that life moves.

The faces get older. The hairstyles change. The years go by.. The memories stay.
